GE Aviation

Aside from being a major donor to New Tech at Aiken, GE Aviation is providing a holistic approach to reaching out to our students. GE Aviation sends staff to build mentoring relationships, tutor and inspire our students to soar to their highest potential.

Students also have the opportunity to become a GE Scholar, a program designed to provide talented youth with leadership development and financial support. These students will have the opportunity to become interns at GE.

  • Acute illness and injury treatment
  • Immunizations
  • Routine lab tests

Activities Beyond the Classroom

Activities Beyond the Classroom's mission is to ensure that Aiken students participate in activities beyond the classroom that help them develop the skills they need to succeed in life. They provide the necessary support for every student to engage in extracurricular activities throughout the year. ABC serves all Aiken students through the Athletic Director and Resource Coordinator.

The Children's Home

Behavioral health services are available and provided in the school through The Children’s Home by a licensed mental health therapist. The therapist will work with you and your child to determine a specific treatment plan that meets your needs.

Cincinnati Youth Collaborative
CYC empowers vulnerable children and young adults to overcome obstacles and succeed in education, career and life.

SWOOP
Students Working On Occupational Pathways, or SWOOP, allows Aiken New Tech students to earn credits toward graduation through a wage-earning internship.

Through SWOOP, students have opportunities for internships in construction, landscaping, HVAC, masonry, electrical, IT, hazmat, welding, plumbing and carpentry. SWOOP gives students the opportunity to earn key requirements for graduation, earn nationally recognized industry credentials, and have the opportunity to secure full-time employment after graduation.

SWOOP partners include: Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Cincinnati State, HGC Construction, Lawn Life, Messer Construction Company and Turner Construction Company.

WordPlay

The 2017-18 school year marked the first full year of the WordPlay Writers Room, embedded at Aiken High School. The Writers Room is the hub for a host of WordPlay programs both during and after school, a dedicated space within the school designed to provide equitable access to creative programs from which EVERY student can benefit. Students can attend regular workshops and work on self-directed and group creative projects in the literary arts during in-class collaborations with teachers and in our after school programs.
